Digicel Barbados: Flash-Based Store Configurator for Brand Standardisation
Following on from the success of the online application form, Digicel Barbados asked us to solve a major challenge in their retail operations: ensuring brand consistency across multiple stores and islands. Managing store layouts and promotional materials remotely was proving time-consuming and expensive, as in-person visits were required to oversee store configurations. To streamline this process, we built a Flash-based store configurator that allowed head office to remotely design and standardize store layouts in line with ongoing promotions.
Building a Virtual Store Layout Tool
We created a system that utilized semi-3D floorplans of each Digicel store. Where floorplans weren’t available, we designed them from scratch to ensure all locations could be represented accurately. The configurator allowed head office to place promotional materials—such as posters, signage, and display racks—onto predefined hotspots on the store walls. Additionally, furniture assets like tables, desks, sales podiums, and phone stands could be arranged within the floorspace to create a cohesive in-store experience.
Remote Store Management & Compliance
Once a store layout has been finalized at the head office, it can be saved and emailed directly to the store manager. The local team follows the configuration guidelines and uploads photographic evidence to the system upon completion to confirm compliance with the prescribed layout.
Impact & Efficiency Gains
The store configurator was a huge success, dramatically reducing administrative overhead and eliminating unnecessary travel. Instead of requiring multiple on-site visits to ensure compliance, head office could now manage store layouts remotely, ensuring consistency across all locations. In-person visits were still conducted, but only after the store had been set up according to the configured plan, making the process far more efficient.
By implementing this digital solution, Digicel Barbados was able to improve operational efficiency, maintain brand integrity, and significantly reduce the time and cost associated with in-store promotional rollouts.
The Site Doctor was –as ever, highly professional with their entire process. Despite working from several thousand miles away, they were able to quickly and easily understand the brief and translate it into a very suitable and easy-to-use solution.
